AA-5 Traveler
The four-seat Grumman — 150 hp O-320. Built by Grumman American 1972–1975. The 'Stretch Yankee.'
The AA-5 Traveler was the second attempt at a four-seater (after the uncertified AA-2 Patriot) and the first to reach production. Built on a stretched version of the Yankee airframe with the O-320-E2G producing 150 hp, it introduced the bonded honeycomb four-seat cabin, sliding canopy, and fixed tricycle gear that would define the entire AA-5 series. Many owners affectionately called it the "Stretch Yankee" or "Long Yankee." Roy LoPresti's subsequent aerodynamic work on the Traveler produced the AA-5A Cheetah and AA-5B Tiger.
